BEAUTIFUL ATLANTA!

BEAUTIFUL CLEVELAND!

cleveland745926

Mood: giggedy, giggedy (my Quagmire impression..watch Family Guy and you’ll know what I am talking about)

Listening to: Feels Good Inc. by Gorillaz

So much craziness goin on…..YET IT FEELS SO GOOD!!! Forgive me if I am slacking on my posts just a little. I have so much under my belt right now that is keeping me super busy. I have some posts saved which makes it easier for me to post them on a daily basis so I won’t deprive you of your daily intake of Vitamin NY!

Lately I get a lot of people asking me why I am still planning my move to Atlanta when jobs are being cut everywhere. They think that I would be better off if I just stayed here in Cleveland and to be grateful for what I have. I love that everyone wants to look out for little ole me but unbeknownst to them I have already been offered great jobs in the A and I’m not even there yet…..awww the power of networking. Having a degree and experience is all fine and dandy but it’s really all about who you know. In order to get your foot into any job these days you have to know someone and be referred. Needless to say I feel in no way unprepared to tackle all the new ventures that are waiting for me once I relocate. True I have been back and forth with myself wondering if I am making the right decision on relocating but I really feel that it’s time for me to break up with Cleveland and begin my courtship with Atlanta. Cleveland and I will be separating on good terms so I know I can always come back if need be. ;)

Also, I have been trying to slim down a little before then because every time I visit Atlanta all I do is eat, eat, eat!! There are so many places to eat and I love to eat.  I have adopted a more health conscious meal plan (*sigh*….. *sigh* again) so I will have to cut back on some of my eating pleasures…Sorry Mr. Buffalo Wing, we have to part but only for a little while! Wait I got off subject…see what thinking about food does to me…control yourself Nisha! What was I saying….OH YEAH…I am definitely ready for a change. My dreams are much bigger than Cleveland or Atlanta so we will just see where this road leads…one step at a time though. Big ups to my Twitter Atliens, My Ning Atliens, My Facebook Atliens and My Myspace Atliens…I gotta keep thanking you guys because without you I would be at a standstill!! Also Big Ups to my Cleveland FAM..YOU ALWAYS HOLD IT DOWN FOR YOUR GIRL!!!

FYI – Stay tuned for my new layout for this blog and my myspace page that will reflect more of who I am…sexy, sleek and stylish!!! Coming up with a design, logo and tagline wrecked my brain but I am sure you all will love it!!

Love to love ya…..MUAH!

Value Your Friendships

Having true friendship is a blessing. Who doesn’t want a friend who will have your back no matter what. A true friend that will never belittle you or try to upstage you. A true friend who will hold your secrets in confidence. A friend to be there to pick you up when you are down. A friend who is more like a sister than a friend. Someone who isn’t afraid to put you in your place when you get on your high and mighty. A true friend is honest and truthful. Someone who will never betray you. Some of us do not value true friendships so we often overlook those things that make for a healthy friendship. When friendships are broken we tend to point the finger at everyone else but ourselves. If you find it hard to keep friends then at one point you need to look within yourself and try to figure out what is wrong with you.  So I say to everyone…please value your friendships because REAL and TRUE friends are hard to come by.

IS098Q1XP

I must say that I keep a small circle of friends who have proven twice over that they are there for me no matter what. They know right away when I am having a rough day then they are right there to tell me a joke or two to uplift my spirits. Some of them I have known for years and some of them I have known for only a few months but they all are like my sisters. We tell each other everything and there is no fronting or fakeness between us. Being there for them comes naturally because when they hurt I am hurting. I can tell them things that I could never go to my family to discuss. I rarely let anyone into my circle because I am cautious about backstabbers but sometimes you just meet those who you have so much in common with that it becomes inevitable.  So I say again…value your friendships and never take them for granted because true friendships are hard to come by.

Easier Said Then Done

exercise

Many of us set resolutions to follow at the beginning of the year. Now it is the end of the quarter we need to review the list and make sure that we are on task of completion. Remember how you said you wanted to lose weight…well why are you still snacking all day. You wanted to get a new job….well have you even picked up the classifieds to look into what is available? You want to go back to school…have you even applied for any financial aid or scholarships? Many of us make these resolutions all pumped up to work on getting them done but then we lose sight of them along the way. Next thing you know, this years resolutions are now next years resolutions. Take a minute to look at what you have done so far and what you can do to reach those goals and GET BACK ON TRACK!!!

Not Easily Impressed

brag

Why do some people try to make themselves out to be more than what they are? Don’t you know that in the end what you lie about in the dark will come to the light! It is so easy to make yourself out to be something that you are not…especially on the internet. Who can stop you from saying that you own this business and you make a certain amount of money. It is so easy to temporarily have us fooled but you are really only fooling yourself. If you talk the talk make sure you can back it up. You lie about your finances, your relationship, your life…WHY???? When you constantly brag about what you have then you are making it quite obvious that you really don’t have anything. You are obviously seeking attention and will do anything to get just that…even if it means being deceitful. Just remember….we are not easily impressed!!

Steppin Out…Spring Fashion!

I have gotten such positive responses on my fashion posts so I decided to do a little more than I would normally do and what better time than now when the weather is attempting to break a little. Here are a couple of items to step up your closets and welcome in the new season:

andrewhamiltonringI love cocktail rings…they just bring so much to the outfit and this emerald green cocktail ring by Andrew Hamilton will do just that. Wear this ring and see what a conversation starter it will be.

edhardyCheck out this shoulder bag by Ed Hardy. What I like about this bag is that it can be your only accessory. I would rock the bag with jeans and a plain t-shirt. Because the bag is already “busy” you wouldn’t want to do to much with your outfit as the bag should be the main focus of your ensemble. However, a small amount of gold accessories would give it that extra POW!

factory-girl

I love to love leggings…although, at one point, I was beginning to grow tired of them. However, it seems like designers are beginning to reinvent the leggings with new prints and designs. I actually own the pair that you see above (by Factory Girl). What caught my eye about these leggings is the tattoo print on them. Whenever I wear them out people are always wanting to talk to me about them and where I got them. I piece them with a flirty black shirt and black 4 inch stilettos and I feel really “rockstarish”. ruthiedavisPink, pink, pink…oh how I love pink. Check out these cute Mary Jane shoes by Ruthie Davis. Pink is definitely the color of the season and these shoes are definitely making a statement.  You can’t see it on the pic but the shoes have a lime green sole that really sets it off. Please be sure that you are not half steppin with your pedi when you rock them. You can’t pull off polishing one toenail when wearing these babies….LOL!!! dealersbikerThis biker jacket from Dealers of the Purple Cloth is definitely a hot item. Although I would tend to go for a black biker jacket the jacket looks so much better in silver. Again, make sure that your clothes aren’t doing too much. The jacket alone with have them turning heads.

Now you can step out in style!!! Stay tuned for more hot items from Nisha Yvette to you coming in future posts!

Choosey Lover!

“I would never date a white man”
“I only date redbones”
“She has to have a big butt”
“He has to have a big “johnson”
“He/She can’t have any kids…they are not mines and I won’t deal with them”
interracial

Do you know that by having a list of requirements of what you already want in a man/woman limits the chances of you finding real love? Come on let’s face it, we all wish for the picture perfect man/woman with a perfect body and the personality to match but we should know that is just part of our “fantasy”. Real men/women have faults and real men/women make mistakes. A list would be great if we lived in a world where we can manufacture our ideal mate in a factory but that is not the case. You might find someone who is great in bed but is junky as hell. You might find someone who cooks like Emeril Lagasse but snores in his/her sleep. You might find someone who caters to your every need but doesn’t care about his/her appearance. It’s a give and take  when it comes to relationships. True there are things that can absolutely irritate us to no end but some things aren’t so bad to where we can’t accept them. We are quick to point out things that we don’t want in our man/woman and forget about the things that we need in our relationships. We are quick to point out their mistakes and flaws but what about looking at yourself and the things that you do. Okay so he leaves the toilet seat up but you don’t even cook…give the man a home cooked meal every once in a while. So she sucks at doing laundry but you drink out the 2 liter and put it back in the fridge with your backwash, crumbs and all floating around in it. Learn to accept your man/woman the way they are. If there is something that is truly bothering you then you can address it in a polite way…never criticizing.  Having your preferences is okay but best believe there are going to be some flaws that come along with them. Sometimes that perfect person turns out to be the total opposite of what we thought we needed to be happy. No one is perfect…YOU included!!!

Diary Post: Social Diva!

 handshake

Awww…..the power of networking. Years ago I didn’t understand how important and beneficial networking could be especially when you are trying to build your business. I attended events in the past where I would be be sitting right across the table from people such as L.A. Reid and Donda West (RIP) and not open my mouth to even say my name. I would come prepared to these events with my camera and business cards but even being armed with these items I still could not step out of my shell and make a networking connection. I missed out on so many opportunities because I kept my mouth shut. As years have past I have become more comfortable with who I am and now you can’t pay me to shut up! LOL! I try to attend as many seminars, workshops and summits that I can to allow me to network with other individuals in my industry of interest. Now I will take 200 business cards with me and come back home with none. I guess I was so much to myself  because I didn’t have confidence and I always thought I would make a fool out of myself if I opened my mouth. I was also afraid of rejection….I didn’t want to be told NO. Right now I am confident in my skills and abilities so much that I work hard at making a name for myself wherever I go. My goal is to stand out above the rest. This means knowing and being confident in what I am talking about and remaining professional at all times. With that being said, I have allowed myself to open up through social networking and etc. and have met some really great people who know some really great people, who know some really great people. Remembering that  ”close mouths don’t get fed” motivates me to not only talk the talk but be able to back it up as well! I have become quite the “social butterfly” and it’s opened so many doors for me. I look forward to what the future has in store!

Gerald Levert vrs. Luther Vandross

luthergerald_levert

Gerald Levert and Luther Vandross….two of R&B’s Kings. They both touched our hearts with love songs and made us groove on the dance floor. Gerald hails from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.  I was actually close to him through my father who was a member of the Cleveland based group ”The Rude Boys”. I remember going to the studio with my father and watchin them fool around more than rehearse. Luther Vandross was always my mother’s favorite. She had all his CD’s and would play them to death…it’s no wonder I know all the lyrics to his “The Night I Fell in Love” album.

So who reigns supreme to you?

Gerald gave us hits like:

1. Funny 2. Baby U Are 3. Taking Everything 4. Private Line 5. Answering Service 6. Thinkin Bout It 7. Rock Me 8. Pop Goes My Mind (Levert) 9. You’re a Keeper 10. Nothin to Somethin (my ish ish!)

Luther gave us hits like:

1. Here and Now 2. A House is Not a Home 3. If Only for One Night 4. Superstar 5. Creepin 6. Don’t You Know That 7. Never Too Much 8. Till My Baby Comes Home 9. Any Love and 10. So Amazing (aww I am just taken back just listing these songs!)

I can’t decide so I will leave it up to you!!!

Do We Really Care?????

00086444

Welcome to my first edition of “Do We Really Care” where I post the latest in entertainment news that I can actually care less about.

1. Do we really care that T.I. is now locked up and serving time for his crime? Don’t get me wrong, I love me some T.I. but as the saying goes “You do the crime, you do the time”.

2. Do we really care that what Diddy’s choice in women are? To be honest all men have their preferences of light, dark, skinny, chunky, tall or short…Diddy just voiced his concerns. Everyone…let it go!!!

3. Do we really care that Rihanna has new gun tattos? I mean she has a ton of them… what else is new?

4. Do we really care about Beyonce’s tour outfits? Come on is that really newsworthy….the girl is fierce and that is all that we need to know!!!

5. Do we really care if Ray J finds love on his reality show? No…we just love seeing those chicks make a damn fool out of themselves on national television.

Well that was my first edition of “Do We Really Care”…catch ya later on the rebound!! LOL!!!

My LipGloss Is Poppin!

LOL….I truly dislike that song but I will tell you one thing…you gotta keep them lips a-glossin for this season. I love lipgloss and the way it looks and feels on my lips. Not all lip gloss is GOOD lipgloss. I have tried so many…you have some that really moisturize while others pulled the skin right off my lips. Here are my top 5 choice of glosses and why.

carmex

1. Carmex. I know most of you don’t consider this a gloss but this has got to be the best yet. It’s medicated so you feel it working on your lips while making you look flossy and glossy at the same time. If you don’t carry anything else in your handbag you gotta have Carmex handy!

beautyrush1

2. My uber-fave lipgloss of all has to be Victoria Secret’s “Beauty Rush” lipgloss. They come in a ton of colors and flavors and make my lips look deliciously yummy!!! I stock up every time I am at Vikki See!

milani

3. Another favorite of mines is the Milani Lip Mixer Lip Gloss. The lip gloss has conditioners in it to keep your lips looking and feeling smooth and healthy. I like how they blend three different shades into one tube so you can create your own special blend and make for the best kissable lips ever.

mclipglass

4. Of course you know I had to put the fav amongst all women…M.A.C Lipglass…..what more can I say about it. My favorite color that I have been wearing for years is “Oh Baby”.

chanel

5. Last but not least is Chanel’s Ultra Wear Lip Colour. If you want a lip gloss that is going to last all day then this is the one for you…no reapplying unless you just scarfed down some BBQ ribs and need to refresh!!!

Okay ladies…time to hit the store and get those lips poppin for spring!

She Wants To Live The Glamorous Life!

Who doesn’t want to live the glamorous life? I mean private jets, designer clothes and shoes, diamonds galore and VIP status…livin the life!!! Well for most of us we cannot afford such luxuries but that is no reason for us to total deprive ourselves of nice things. Every once in a while it is always nice to treat yourself and splurge. In no way am I saying that you not pay your rent just to get the latest Louis Vuitton bag BUT if there is a time where you can afford to do a little splurging then go for it. Sometimes we tend to look out for other people so much that we forget to cater to ourselves. Here are a few ways to treat yourself like a glamorous queen should be treated.

1. So you can’t afford to shop in Saks Fifth Avenue. Why not try stores like Bebe, Arden B., Cache or H&M. These stores have clothes of good quality that won’t break your pocket. You can even shop online for pieces that are not found at the local apparel stores. My favorite sites are RevolveClothing.com, EModa.com or Karmaloop.com.

spa

2. Treat yourself to a day at the spa. Some places charge excessively for simple services but there are spas out there that are reasonable. Get a facial and a manicure….these are probably the cheapest of the packages available but so well worth it. If you are really feeling good then go for a full body wrap or massage. If you are ever in the Cleveland/Beachwood area you should definitely check out Dino Palmieri Salon and Spa in Beachwood Place.

lobster

3. Upscale Dining. I know we all know and love our Olive Gardens, Red Lobsters and Fridays but there are restaurants that go just a notch above these restaurants that will not break your bank which offer better quality and better tasting food with white linen table clothes to go with it. Check your local restaurant listings and review customer ratings. If dining out isn’t an option them opt to purchasing your own equisite meal items and cook and dine at home.

hotel

4. So you are traveling…..well this is the perfect time to compare rates for coach against first class ticket and four and five star hotels against low budget motels. Instead of staying at the Country Inn…compare the prices and services offered to that of a four or five star hotel to see which provides the better deal. You might be surprised at what you find. Check out Expedia.com and Hotwire.com.

5. Make me look like a model. You see the women in magazines all made up and pretty!! You yearn to have that same experience of being made up, dressed and photographed like a work of art. You are in luck…with the economy everyone is looking to keep their businesses going by offering discount packages and more. I am noticing that more photographers are offering packages as low as 50 dollars for a decent amount of edited photos. So call around and look online to see what photogs in your area have specials going on and prepare to dazzle the camera with your looks. Check out ModelMayhem.com to also search for a photographer in your area.

These are just a few things that we can do for ourselves ladies. It feels good to help others but don’t forget about the most important person…YOU!!!

Talk To Me Baby!

talk

Communication is key in any relationship, however, it seems that most men have a problem expressing themselves. Of course us women are quick to want to talk to our men about our problems and we want you to listen but sometimes we want you to come to us and voice concerns. In a relationship the couple should definitely be friends first before lovers. Friends can talk to each other about anything and friends are there to give good advice. Men, we know we like going to your boys off rip when you are having problems but we would like to know what’s going on as well. Maybe we will understand why you are upset or sad some days so we will know when to back down and give you your space. Nothing can be addressed if nothing is said. I’m not saying that we need to know EVERYTHING because trust we are not telling you all of our womanly problems….we just want you to feel that we can be trusted to listen and possibly give you some good advice that your friends could not give. You may think that we couldn’t relate to your issues and problems but you would be surprised!!

Realizations…

fingers

Sometimes we make life very difficult for ourselves. We have a great ability to create our own stress. We may refuse to see the good in anything or anyone. We sometimes refuse to count our blessings and complain about the lack of them. We will criticize, judge or blame others because we forget when our choices were not wise. What we don’t seem to realize is that when we voice words of struggle and strife we draw more of it into our experience. We create our own well-being according to the way we conduct our mind, mouth, heart. When we expect the best, we get it. When we speak of good, we see it. When we cleanse our hearts of fear, anger and strife, we place ourselves on a higher vibration. If we choose to struggle with the issues of life, they will be very willing to fight us.

~Acts of Faith

Today cleanse yourself of all negativitiy and begin anew!
